The pair will hold a private ceremony in Seoul, and the venue has not been disclosed to protect their privacy, Yonhap News Agency reported on Thursday.

Kim confirmed the news in a handwritten letter posted on his official fan forum, saying he is ready to begin a new chapter with the partner who has stood by him for years.

“Yes, I am getting married,” he wrote. “I will build a family with the person I have spent a long time with, and we will continue our journey together. I ask for your support as I take this new step.”

Shin’s agency also thanked fans for their support and asked them to send “warm blessings” to the couple.

The two first met while filming a commercial in 2014. Their relationship drew public admiration after Shin remained by Kim’s side during his battle with nasopharyngeal cancer, according to Sports Chosun.

Born Yang Mina, 41-year-old Shin began her career as a model in 1998 before transitioning to acting and building a substantial profile across film and television, most recently starring in Netflix’s mystery thriller “Karma.”

Kim, 36, started his entertainment as a model in 2008 and rose to prominence as an actor. He stepped away from the spotlight following his 2017 cancer diagnosis and returned to the screen in 2022 with the sci-fi action film “Alienoid.”
