December 2025 Bank Holidays: December is also about to begin. The last month of the year is full of events, hence its impact will be visible on banking services also. Banks will remain closed for 18 days in different states in December. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases state-wise list of bank holidays every month.
In this it is told that on which day the banks will remain closed for which reason and in which states. This is necessary because the same holidays are not applicable in all states. Many festivals are local and some holidays are valid only in specific states. In such a situation, it is very important to know about the holidays of your city before going to the bank. The number of holidays is more in December. Apart from this, there will be bank holiday on second and fourth Saturday and every Sunday.
State wise holiday list for the entire month
1 december: Indigenous Faith Day- Bank closed in Arunachal Pradesh.
3 December: St. Francis Xavier’s Day. Goa’s banks will be closed on this day.
12th December: Pa Togan Nengminja Sangama Day – Holiday in Meghalaya.
18 December: Guru Ghasidas Jayanti-Holiday in Chhattisgarh and Meghalaya.
19 December: Liberation Day- Bank closed in Goa.
24 December: Christmas Eve- Holiday in Meghalaya and Mizoram.
25th December: Christmas – holiday in most states.
26th December: Christmas Celebration-Shaheed Udham Singh Jayanti holiday in Meghalaya, Mizoram, Telangana and Haryana.
27 December: Banks closed in Haryana, Punjab and Himachal on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti.
30 December: Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya and Tamu Losar festival in Sikkim on Yu Kiang Nangbah Day.
31st December: New Year’s Eve- There will be a holiday in Manipur and Mizoram.
Crowd in branches will increase due to more holidays
Due to more number of holidays in banks next month, crowding in branches may increase. Due to this, there may be delay in tasks like cash deposit, check clearance, passbook update, making draft etc. In such a situation, it is better that you complete your banking work in advance, so that you do not have to face problems due to holidays. However, UPI, internet banking and ATM services will be available 24×7. But, there are many tasks for which you have to go to the bank branch. Make a banking plan for the month of December keeping in mind the holidays in your city.
