Bank Holidays in December: As soon as December 2025 starts, a long list of holidays will be seen in banks. Banks will remain closed for a total of 18 days in the month. In such a situation, if you are planning to go to the branch for any important banking work, like opening a new account, getting loan paperwork done or making a draft, then first check the complete list of holidays. RBI releases the list of bank holidays every month, which includes holidays according to festivals and local festivals in different states.
Banks will remain closed in Arunachal Pradesh on the first day of December due to Indigenous Faith Day. Banking services will not be available in Goa on December 3 due to the religious festival of St. Francis Xavier. There will be a bank holiday in Meghalaya on December 12 on Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma Day. After this, banks will remain closed on 18th December, Guru Ghasidas Jayanti in Chhattisgarh and U Soso Tham’s death anniversary in Meghalaya.
Goa Liberation Day will be celebrated on 19th December, hence there will be no bank operations in Goa. There will be a holiday in Meghalaya and Mizoram on Christmas Eve on December 24, while banks will remain closed in most states across the country on December 25 on the occasion of Christmas. The next day on 26th December, there will be a bank holiday in Mizoram, Telangana and Meghalaya due to Christmas celebrations, and banks will also remain closed in Haryana on Shaheed Udham Singh Jayanti.
Banks will remain closed in Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh on 27th December on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. Banks will remain closed at the end of the month on December 30 due to U Kiang Nangbah Day in Meghalaya and Tamu Losar festival in Sikkim. Bank holiday may be observed in some states on December 31 due to regional events to welcoming the New Year.
There is no need to worry if banks are closed any day, because most of the banking services are available through digital means. Customers can easily do money transactions, account opening and other tasks through net banking, mobile banking, UPI and other online services. Therefore, before doing any important banking work in December, confirm the holidays so that your work can be completed without any interruption.
