While talking to a news channel, Saikia said that whatever is being said about Virat Kohli is just a rumour. There was no discussion with Kohli about this. Don’t talk about rumours. It was claimed in the Cricbuzz report that the idea has started circulating within the board that Virat Kohli should be contacted and requested to withdraw his retirement from Tests. The report also said that a recently retired player may be ready to reconsider his Test future. After the 0-2 clean sweep against South Africa at home, head coach Gautam Gambhir had attributed the team’s failure to the transition phase.

When did Kohli make his test debut?

Virat Kohli made his Test debut in June 2011 against West Indies in Kingston. He scored 4 runs in the first innings and 15 runs in the second innings. The way Kohli established himself in Tests after early failures became one of the biggest stories in the history of Indian cricket. Kohli’s last Test was against Australia in January 2025 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
