In the 128th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday (30 November), Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the program of completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram, destination wedding to promote tourism, religious flag on Ram temple, Ramban Sulai honey and honey made in different parts of the country. Not only this, he addressed it with new information by calling it Madhu Kranti.

In the Mann Ki Baat programme, he said that India is making a new record in honey production and honey with different qualities is being produced in different states. Till 11 years ago, 76 thousand metric tons of honey was produced in the country, but now it has increased to 1.5 lakh metric tons. Under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission under the Ministry of Agriculture, bee-boxes have also been distributed to promote beekeeping, which has also provided employment to the people.

Talking about the hard work of people and the coordination of nature and traditions of different states, PM Modi talked about honey made in Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir, honey made from vegetation in Puttur in South India, honey made in Tumkru in Karnataka and cliff honey hunting in Nagaland. He told that every honey made in the states has its own tradition and sweetness of nature.

Talking about the honey made in Ramban of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said that honey is prepared there from the white flowers of Sulai. The special thing is that this honey is white in color and it has also got the GI tag, which makes it recognized throughout the country. Regarding honey made from plants in Puttur, South India, PM Modi said that the plants here are considered the best for making honey. The honey there is now being sold in branches in the cities, which has provided employment to several thousand rural farmers.

Talking about cliff honey hunting in Nagaland, PM Modi said that this is the most dangerous technique of making honey in the entire country. In Nagaland, honey is produced through cliff honey hunting, where bees make their hive on a high hill and the farmers complete the work of making honey by taking permission from the beekeepers.
