
Pune Metro News : An important update is coming for the Pune people, this is an update regarding the Pune Metro. Various measures are being implemented through the government and administration to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Pune city.
Pune Metro has also been launched to reduce traffic congestion and the metro is also getting good response from the people of Pune. Currently, there are two metro lines in Pune.
Metro is currently running on Pimpri Chinchwad Municipality to Swargate and Vanaj to Ramwadi routes. The important thing is that the road from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipality to Swargate will also be extended.
This route will be taken directly to Katraj. That is, a new metro line from Swargate to Katraj will be developed and now an important information about this project has come to light. The actual work of Swargate to Katraj underground metro line will start soon.
ITD Cementation India Limited has been selected by Maharashtra Metro Railway Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) for this project and a work order has been officially issued to it.
This project, which has been pending for the last one and a half years, will get momentum. In Pune, the Swargate-Katraj metro line was proposed as a solution to the problem of increasing traffic congestion and pollution on the route from the central city to the southern part.
The groundbreaking ceremony of this important metro line of 5.46 km length was done on 29 September 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the process of work was being postponed due to technical reasons, roadblocks and local demands.
Two additional stations, Bibvewadi and Balajinagar, have been added to the route as per the suggestions of local citizens and public representatives. Now the project work has got the official green light after getting the necessary permission from the State Election Commission in view of the Election Code of Conduct.
According to the agreement between Mahametro and the contractor company for the implementation of the work, the project is targeted to be completed by 2029, said Chandrasekhar Tambavekar, Public Relations Director of Mahametro.
As the project has already received approval from the central and state governments, the preliminary phases of underground tunnel digging and station construction are likely to begin in the coming weeks.
This route will be very convenient for the passengers from Katraj, Bibwewadi, Dhankawadi, Sahkarnagar, Gultekdi, Market Yard and also from Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli coming to Swargate from outside Pune. The total five stations on the route include Marketyard, Padmavati, Bibvewadi, Balajinagar and Katraj.
The total cost of the project is Rs 3,780 crore, after the completion of this road, the traffic stress in the city will be reduced to a great extent. Also, the journey to Pimpri, Shivajinagar and Ramwadi will be faster due to connectivity with other metro lines.
