New Delhi :The people of Delhi are suffering from bad air pollution. The air here is becoming poisonous, but the government is not working seriously on road cleaning and dust control measures. According to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), on the streets of Delhi Municipal Corporation. Dust is flying on most of the roads. Now the pollution level is increasing in Mumbai also. In view of this, GRAP-4 restrictions have been implemented so that pollution can be controlled.

Pollution has been a serious problem for a long time
Let us tell you that pollution has been a serious problem in the capital Delhi for a long time, whereas in other metros like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai this situation remained relatively under control. Now the air quality has started deteriorating in the financial capital Mumbai also. The level of air pollution in many areas of the city like Margao, Deonar, Malad, Borivali East, Chakala-Andheri East, Navy Nagar, Powai and Mulund has fallen into the ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ category.

GRAP 4 restrictions and BMC action
GRAP 4 restrictions have been implemented to control pollution in Mumbai. Under this, all construction works have been banned, so that the pollution caused by dust can be reduced. Notices have been issued to about 50 construction sites. Apart from this, instructions have been given to small scale industries, bakeries and marble cutting units to prevent the spread of dust during work. Action will be taken against them for violation.

Surveillance and deployment of flying squads
BMC has appointed flying squads in every ward, which will monitor dust and pollution. This step has been taken with the aim of improving air quality in the city and reducing unhealthy level of pollution.

Increasing pollution in Indian cities
Although earlier the pollution in Mumbai was relatively low due to its location on the seashore and strong winds, the recent figures are worrying. Currently, Mumbai’s AQI is 187, which falls in the ‘unhealthy’ category. AQI of Bengaluru has been recorded at 118 and AQI of Kolkata has been recorded at 236. Of the 10 most polluted cities in the world, three are from India, which reflects the challenge of air quality in the country. Thus, Mumbai is now facing the same serious pollution problem as Delhi, and despite strict monitoring and restrictions by BMC, the situation remains challenging to control.
