In an old interview, Farah Khan revealed how Karan Johar predicted her marriage to Shirish Kunder as well as her superhit film Om Shanti Om
Not many know, but filmmakers Farah Khan and Karan Johar are close friends. In an old interview with ZEE Cafe, the Main Hoon Na director revealed how Kjo was partially responsible for her marriage to director Shirish Kunder and also predicted the fate of her biggest hit film.

In the early 2000s, Farah approached Karan, who also happened to be an expert tarot card reader, to let her know what the future had in store for her. By that time, she was in a steady relationship with Shirish. Although she didn’t reveal it to Karan, he guessed her relationship status from her cards and urged her to marry the guy.

“He was the best tarot card reader I ever went to… Karan opened my cards and said, ‘B*tch! You haven’t told me you’re seeing somebody.’ I said, ‘Really?’ He said, ‘Listen, this person is very good for you. Look at this card. Just marry this person.’ “He’s fabulous,” he said, she recalled.

Farah and Shirish tied the knot in 2004. Today, they are parents to three kids—Czar, Anya, and Diva.

This is far from the only time Kjo and his knack for reading tarot cards had helped Farah. In the same interview, Farah revealed that the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director had suggested she release her magnum opus Om Shanti Om on the same date as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya.

Farah was nervous about releasing the film on the same date as Saawariya, as the latter was one of the most awaited films of 2007 and was Bhansali’s fourth film after he delivered multiple hits such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, and Black. It also marked the film debut of Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor.

“I asked him, ‘Should we come on that date or not?’ He said, ‘Don’t let this date go,'” recalled Farah.

Karan’s prediction came true as Om Shanti Om became a huge hit at the box-office. It earned more than Rs 152 crore worldwide and became the highest-grossing film of 2007. The movie also marked the Bollywood debut of Deepika Padukone. On the other hand, Saawariya failed to make an impact at the box office, earning a modest Rs 39 crore.
