Snooker ace Mark Williams cut a frustrated figure in Sunday evening's UK Championship win over David Gilbert after a poor miss. The Welshman was victorious in the round of 32 clash against Gilbert 6-4.
Williams continued to produce some of the sport's best displays with another impressive performance to progress to the second round of the tournament. Despite trailing Gilbert 2-1, Williams won four consecutive frames to seal the win.
Gilbert scored his second century to reduce the deficit, but former World No.1 Williams was able to see out the victory. The win was sealed in a decisive 10th frame.
However, earlier in the encounter, Williams was visibly frustrated at his own performance. With him trailing Gilbert 2-1, Williams reacted to a poor shot by slamming his cue to the ground in exasperation.
He then jokingly jestered to the crowd of throwing his cue towards them before taking his seat. The faces in the crowd saw the funny side before Gilbert took his shot.
After the turnaround win, Williams was asked his moment with the crowd had relaxed him after a moment of frustration moments later. "I was still swearing to myself 10 minutes after that," he said.
"After the interval, we both played quite well. It could have been five-five. I'm happy to have got that last frame."
He continued: "Much better after the interval," he said. "Before the interval, it was like watching [Stephen] Hendry play [Steve] Davis. After the interval, it was quite good stuff from both of us."
