Moscow. US Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are returning home after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin along with the delegation. Witkoff and others, who arrived with Trump’s proposal to establish peace in Ukraine, discussed with Putin for about five hours. At present there is no possibility of the war between the two stopping. The delegation could not reach talks with Russia. According to the report of America’s CBS News channel, after the end of the talks, the first reaction to this development was given by Putin’s top aide Yuri Ushakov. He said there was still a lot of work to do on the Ukraine peace proposal. He said the meeting to consider Trump’s proposal lasted for about five hours. The meeting came on the heels of talks between US and Ukrainian officials in Florida over the weekend. Yuri Ushakov told journalists that the talks were useful, but there was no discussion on long-running regional issues in Ukraine. The regional issue is most important not only for Russia but also for the Americans. He said that no agreement has been reached yet, but some American proposals seem more or less fine, but they need to be talked about. Some of the methods that were suggested to us seem fine to us.
Ushakov stressed, “We are no closer to solving the crisis in Ukraine, and there is still much work to do.” He said that the US delegation has handed us four more documents in addition to the 28-point peace plan presented last month. Yuri did not say what the four documents contained. Ushakov said that Russia and the United States have agreed not to disclose specific details of the talks. Ushakov said that there are no direct talks planned between Putin and Trump. Putin has sent some important messages to Trump from Witkoff and Kushner. Ushakov said Witkoff and Kushner were scheduled to return to the United States. He will contact Russian officials by phone after meeting with Trump on the Moscow talks.
