With the beginning of December 2025, excitement has increased among children and parents about school holidays. Schools will be closed for several days this month due to winter, festivals, and state-wide holidays.
The year 2025 is in its final month, and with it, children's excitement also grows. As soon as the calendar turns to December, everyone starts looking for the holiday list. December is considered the month of winter vacations. Especially in North India, where schools are closed for several days due to the cold, students eagerly await this month.
There were very few holidays in the month of November. Due to increased pollution in Delhi and surrounding areas, many schools conducted classes up to grade five online or in hybrid mode. Meanwhile, many schools had limited holidays due to examinations. Therefore, everyone is now looking forward to the December holiday calendar with anticipation.
December 2025 will include approximately nine days of fixed holidays, in addition to the weekly holidays on Saturdays and Sundays. However, the duration of the winter vacation varies from state to state, so students are advised to check the complete holiday calendar with their school.
When will schools be closed in December 2025?
Waiting for the Winter Holidays
The cold wave is rapidly increasing in the states of North India. While people in Delhi are still bracing for the harsh winter, cold winds have slowly begun to arrive in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh. The Meteorological Department predicts that this year's cold may be milder than normal.
As a result, schools have had to adjust their timings to suit the weather. Many have started classes at 8 or 9 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m. to protect children from the fog and cold. Regarding winter vacation, these holidays depend entirely on the temperature. Therefore, the calendar varies from state to state. In some states, this break lasts for 10 days, while in others, it lasts for 15 to 20 days.
