Hair Oiling at Night: Nowadays, due to pollution and lack of nutrients, hair gets damaged rapidly. Not only pollution but also reasons like stress, lack of nutrients in food and scalp not getting proper nutrition are responsible for this. It is important to apply oil and massage the hair, but Ayurveda believes that if you massage the hair with oil at night, you will get its results during the day.
It is said that at night, the scalp is in repair mode and nutrition reaches the hair roots. Therefore massaging with oil at night is very beneficial for hair. Proper massage can reduce hair fall and also make hair strong and shiny.
Right kind of massage is necessary
If you are troubled by the problem of hair fall, then massage your hair with oil at night. Proper massage can reduce hair fall and also make hair strong and shiny. Oil massage here especially strengthens the hair follicles of the head and improves blood circulation. This brings moisture and warmth to the scalp, provides nutrition to the hair roots and also reduces stress. In Ayurveda, it is advised to include it in regular routine. It is also said in Charak Samhita that regular massage of the head stabilizes both the hair and the mind. Massage at night also helps in deep sleep.
Which oil is right for hair
Many oils are beneficial to apply on hair at night. Coconut oil is good for cooling effect, sesame oil prevents hair fall, amla-bringraj oil helps in hair growth and oil containing neem or bitter gourd is beneficial in fungal infections.
Method of applying oil to hair scalp
- For massage, heat the oil slightly and gently massage in circular motions with the tips of your fingers.
- Do not apply too much force, 5-10 minutes of light pressure and tapping is enough.
- Spread the oil all over the scalp and leave it overnight. Wash with mild shampoo the next day.
- Oil massage 2-3 times a week is sufficient, but if the hair is very weak or is falling due to stress then you can do it daily also.
The effect can be further increased by adding mild garlic, Bhringraj powder, Amla or fenugreek to the oil. With such regular nightly massage, the difference starts to be felt in just two weeks.
