Both Elon Musk and Hrithik Roshan are big fans of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
Actor Hrithik Roshan recently completed reading Douglas Adams’ celebrated work The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and he shared that the book amusingly reinforced every belief he ever had about the strange and unpredictable nature of existence.

Taking to Instagram, he conveyed how thrilled he was to finally finish the iconic story, mentioning that the experience felt like uncovering answers he had long suspected about the universe’s functioning. In a light-hearted tone, he remarked that this newfound clarity had prompted him to reward himself with a delightful lunch, hinting that anyone familiar with the book would immediately understand the reference.

The War star also attempted to express gratitude to Douglas Adams for crafting such a unique piece of imaginative literature, humorously acknowledging that he wasn’t sure whether he had tagged the author’s account correctly.

Hrithik is not the only prominent admirer of the cult sci-fi classic. Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, has also openly spoken about his deep appreciation for the novel. During a conversation with CBS, the tech visionary explained that Adams’ ideas helped shape his personal outlook on life. Musk has often described the late author as one of the thinkers who influenced him the most.

He elaborated that expanding human understanding and broadening the reach of consciousness are essential for asking better questions and growing wiser as a species. According to him, both SpaceX and Tesla operate on principles that stem from this philosophy of stretching awareness and exploration.

The central storyline in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy revolves around the chaotic journey of Arthur Dent, the lone human who remains alive after Earth is wiped out to create room for an interstellar express route. Just moments before the planet is obliterated, Arthur is whisked away by Ford Prefect, an alien who resembles a human and works as a roving researcher for a digital guidebook known as The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The duo manages to escape by catching a ride on a Vogon spacecraft passing through the area.

Once Arthur is saved, he begins drifting across the cosmos with Ford, stumbling into bizarre and unpredictable worlds. During their travels, he reconnects with Trillian, the only other person from Earth who survived because she had been taken off the planet earlier by Zaphod Beeblebrox—the eccentric and reckless President of the Galaxy. Alongside them is Marvin, a perpetually gloomy and hyper-intelligent robot whose pessimistic outlook contrasts sharply with the absurdity of their adventures.

Together, this unlikely group navigates odd civilizations, cosmic riddles, and the humorous absurdity that defines their universe.

For those unfamiliar with its origins, the story started not as a book but as a radio comedy that aired on BBC Radio 4 across two seasons between 1978 and 1980.

The enormous popularity of the early broadcasts led to several adaptations over the years. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy eventually evolved into a collection of novels, comic series, a BBC television adaptation released in 1981, a text-based computer game in 1984, various stage productions, and a feature film that arrived in theatres in 2005.
