Team India announced for T20 series against South Africa, Pandya returns

New Delhi: Team India has been announced for the 5-match T20 series between India-South Africa. The South African team has already been announced. Hardik Pandya has returned to the Indian T20 team. Shubman Gill is fit, he will be the vice captain. Gill suffered a neck injury during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata.

However, it has been said that Gill’s availability currently depends on the fitness clearance received from BCCI’s COE (Centre of Excellence). This T20 series against South Africa is very important for the preparations for the T20 World Cup to be held early next year. It is believed that the players who have been selected in this series will be part of the T20 World Cup team.

Hardik was injured during the Asia Cup, due to which he was out of Team India. He could not even play the final of Asia Cup against Pakistan. Hardik had indicated his return to form by scoring 77 runs in 42 balls against Punjab in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Wednesday.

India’s T20 squad for South African series : Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (wicket keeper), Sanju Samson (wicket keeper), Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakraborty, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar.

South Africa’s T20 squad for India tour: Aiden Markram (captain), Otneil Bartman, Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brewis, Quinton de Kock, Tony De Jorzi, Donovan Ferreira, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Kwena Mafaka, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Enrique Norquia and Tristan Stubbs.

The India-South Africa T20 series will start with the first match in Cuttack on 9 December. The second match will be played on December 11 in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh). The third T20 match is to be held on 14 December in Dharamshala, the fourth match on 17 December in Lucknow and the final T20 of the series is to be held on 19 December in Ahmedabad.
