Today, from schools and colleges to hospitals and courts, AI chatbots are being used everywhere. With the help of AI, even the most complex tasks can be solved in a jiffy. Apart from saving time, it also increases productivity. However, there is another aspect of AI which is very scary. Their excessive use is not free from risks. A study has found that excessive use of chatbots is increasing loneliness and people are spending less time socializing and interacting with other people. This information has come to light in the research conducted by OpenAI and MIT, the company that created ChatGPIT.
Studies have found that people who spend too much time on ChatGPT every day become emotionally detached. Such people suffer from loneliness due to less contact with other people. Because of this, they face problems in communicating with other people. Research has found that people who socialize more with humans feel more emotionally connected, while people who rely more on chatbots feel comparatively more isolated and helpless.
For a long time, experts have been researching the changes in human behavior due to AI chatbots. Some researchers have also expressed concern about the increasing use of AI chatbots among youth suffering from mental illness and loneliness. Last year, a company’s chatbot was also accused of inciting children to commit suicide. In the same case, a 14 year old child also committed suicide.
The researchers who conducted the latest study say that this research is still in its initial stages and efforts are being made to understand its full impact on human behavior. Researchers hope that this study will open many doors to improve AI chatbots. The use of AI can be really fun, but its other aspects also cannot be ignored. This will determine how useful AI will be for our use in the future.
