TV star Jeremy Clarkson is set to host a new spin-off of his popular game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

The former Top Gear and Grand Tour presenter, who is already familiar to audiences as host of the ITV series, is preparing to launch a fresh spin-off titled Millionaire Hot Seat.

Billed as a "thrilling fast-paced twist" on the long-running programme, the new ITV offering promises to deliver "a new fix of high-stakes excitement".

Yet the format comes with a warning - it is described as "ruthless", requiring participants to display "quick thinking, tactical play, and nerves of steel" if they hope to triumph.

Unlike the original format, where a single contestant competes alone, this version will feature six players competing head-to-head, according to the Mirror.

They will race against time in pursuit of potentially life-altering prize money.

In Millionaire Hot Seat, every moment matters as competitors take turns occupying the chair opposite Jeremy, progressing up the Million Pound Money Ladder question by question.

Correct answers keep players in contention, whilst wrong responses mean elimination and a reduction in the top prize.

Participants may opt to pass and remain in the running, although this places them at the rear of the queue, with the risk of never returning to the hot seat.

The Clarkson's Farm presenter has been the host of TV hit Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? since 2018.

He assumed hosting duties when the programme returned to screens four years after its previous presenter, Chris Tarrant, stepped down following an extensive run and several series. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Jeremy would also take on the role of host for Millionaire Hot Seat.

The new programme is a follow-up to successful iterations of the show that have been broadcast in countries like Italy and Australia.

The show has enjoyed immense popularity with audiences in Australia, having first aired in 2009 and subsequently running for multiple seasons.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? airs on ITV and Millionaire Hot Seat will also air on the channel.
