Big opportunity for the youth, Punjab government started Mental Health Fellowship, this is the complete detail

Punjab News: A big and historic initiative regarding mental health and drug-de-addiction has started in Punjab. Launching the country’s first government Leadership in Mental Health programme, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made it clear that “War against Drugs” is not just a slogan but a comprehensive and serious mission. The government aims to understand the drug problem not only as a law and order issue but also from the social and mental health point of view.

what will be the salary

This two-year fellowship has been started in partnership with AIIMS Mohali and TISS Mumbai, through which mental health services will give a new direction in 23 districts of Punjab. Under this program, 35 young experts will be selected, who have studied psychology or social work and have experience to mental health. The selected fellows will visit villages, towns, schools-colleges, community centers and rehabilitation institutions of Punjab and work on a model that integrates prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. This model can become an example for the whole of India.

Fellows will be given special training and mentorship from TISS Mumbai, so that they can develop leadership at the grassroots level. The government will also give them a respectable honorarium of Rs 60,000 every month, so that they can work among the people with their full capacity without any financial pressure.

Drug problem has been a cause of concern

The drug problem in Punjab has been a cause of concern for a long time, but now the government is moving towards eliminating it with the scientific method, cooperation of experts and active participation of the society. Bhagwant Mann believes that the fight against drugs can be won only when the mental structure of the society is strengthened and the youth are given the right direction.
