The Directorate of Education has already instructed all schools to publish the admission criteria, point system, and seat numbers on their websites and on the DOE portal to ensure parents have no difficulties applying. How will admission be granted, and what is the age limit?

According to the Directorate of Education's guidelines, by March 31, 2026, children must be over 3 years old and under 4 years old for nursery. For admission to KG, children must be over 4 years old, but under 5 years old, and for admission to Class 1, children must be over 5 years old but under 6 years old. Furthermore, children already studying in nursery or KG will be automatically promoted to the next level. New admissions are open only to new applicants. The registration fee is set at ₹25, and donations are not accepted. Schools will grant admissions to 75 percent of general category seats using a points-based system. These parameters include distance, siblings already attending the school, staff wards, and aluminum.

What is the admission timeline?

Admission forms for Delhi's private schools are available today, December 4th. The last date for submission is December 27th. The list of all applicants will be released on January 9th, 2026, and the points awarded to each child will be released on January 26th, 2026. The first list and waiting list for nursery admissions will be released on January 23rd, 2026, after which parents will be able to submit objections from January 24th to February 3rd. The second list for admission will be released on 9 February 2026 and the admission process will end on 19 March 2026.
