New Delhi: The Indian Army is making preparations in a different way to strengthen the country’s borders. To prevent infiltration in sensitive areas, the Army is planning to deploy robots along with the soldiers, after which it will become impossible for the enemies to breach the country’s security. Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati have developed upgraded robots to monitor international borders that will provide real-time AI-powered surveillance and seamless surveillance in challenging and inaccessible terrains.
The robots developed by IIT Guwahati-led startup ‘The Spatio Robotic Laboratory Pvt Ltd’ (DSRL) have also received recognition from the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for their ability to integrate into India’s defense infrastructure. The Indian Army is already conducting field trials for the surveillance system. According to DSRL CEO Arnab Kumar Burman, this robotic system will work in any weather. His biggest specialty will be that he will not depend on anyone. Burman said that this system will prove to be an important component in border security, monitoring of critical infrastructure facilities and strategic defense applications.
He further said that, our aim is to develop cutting-edge, AI-powered surveillance solutions that can meet emerging national security challenges. The CEO of the robot manufacturing company said, “This robotic system is designed to operate smoothly even in difficult terrain, ensuring 24/7 surveillance. We are proud to contribute to India’s vision of self-reliance in defense technology and are committed to innovations that strengthen our national security.
