Fans of Peaky Blinders have reason to celebrate as the Shelby family rides back into the spotlight. Four years after the series finale, the story continues in a feature film titled Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, set to release on Netflix.

Written by series creator Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper, the film picks up during a darker period for both the Shelby family and the country. The story is set in Birmingham in 1940, as World War II engulfs Europe. Tommy Shelby, living in self-imposed exile, is forced to return home when the war’s chaos intersects with unresolved matters from his past. The film promises a tense battle for survival and the possibility of redemption.

Cillian Murphy reprises his role as Tommy Shelby. Speaking about returning to the character, Murphy said it felt as though Tommy “wasn’t finished” with him. He expressed excitement over collaborating again with Knight and Harper and noted that the project is “one for the fans.”

The cast features familiar faces and new additions, including Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, Jay Lycurgo, Barry Keoghan, and Stephen Graham. The combination of veteran actors and fresh talent adds depth to the film’s wartime storyline.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will hit select theatres on March 6, 2026, before streaming on Netflix from March 20, 2026.

Earlier, Cillian Murphy has made it clear that he’s not looking to reprise his role as Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders anytime soon.

Following the conclusion of the series in 2022, Murphy addressed speculation about his return during a recent press conference after winning a BAFTA.

He stated his focus is on new projects, particularly the film adaptation of Claire Keegan’s novel “Small Things Like These,” where he plays Bill Furlong, a father of six grappling with the harsh realities faced by young unmarried women in an Irish Magdalene Laundry.

Murphy’s recent performance in “Oppenheimer” has also garnered him significant acclaim and potential Oscar recognition as Best Leading Actor.
