Ladki Bahin Yojana Recovery: After the emergence of ineligible names under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, the government is in recovery mode. Investigations have intensified, and suspected beneficiaries are being removed from the list.
Ladki Bahin Yojana Recovery: Various schemes are implemented in various states across the country to provide financial assistance to women. The Maharashtra government runs the Ladki Bahin Yojana, under which eligible women are given 1,500 rupees per month. Lakhs of women have received financial assistance from Maharashtra's Ladki Bahin Yojana so far. However, many people were caught taking benefits under this scheme who did not meet the basic eligibility criteria.
Now, the government has clarified that the money received by these individuals through fraudulent means will have to be returned. Data shows that approximately ₹35 crore went to people who should not have received this benefit. Some government employees were also found to be involved, and thousands of men also fraudulently accessed the scheme. Find out if your name is included in this list.
Recovery will be made from ineligible individuals
The Ladki Behen Yojana was introduced by the Maharashtra government to benefit needy women. However, many people have fraudulently accessed the scheme. The government has made it clear that any money that has gone into wrong hands will be recovered at all costs. Data presented in the Assembly indicated that 1,526 government employees also benefited from the scheme.
Another 14,298 men have also been identified who received the scheme's funds despite not being eligible. Departments have now been directed to recover the money from all of them as per the rules. The investigation also revealed that in many families, more than one person was taking advantage of the scheme or was also receiving money from other schemes. For this reason, payments to such accounts were stopped in June.
Investigation of 2.6 million suspicious accounts
Approximately 2.63 million accounts have come under suspicion under the scheme. In many cases, men had also applied. However, the scheme is intended for married, widowed, divorced, abandoned, and economically vulnerable women aged 21 to 65. Annual family income must be less than ₹2.5 lakh. The rules also state that assistance from other schemes can be obtained only if the total monthly benefit does not exceed ₹1,500.
Are you also included?
As of February 2025, approximately 500,000 people have been excluded from the list, including those over the age limit. If you do not meet the above eligibility criteria and have received financial benefits under the scheme, you too may be subject to recovery.
