If you have elderly members or members of your family who aren't very tech-savvy, Google has come up with a great feature for them. Scammers often target those in our homes who are less tech-savvy. As a result, they easily fall prey to such scams, and their accounts are compromised. Google has found a simple solution to this problem. Google has upgraded Circle to Search and Google Lens, allowing you to easily determine whether a message is a scam or not by uploading a screenshot or circling it. Google AI will also tell you how suspicious the message is and what steps you should take next.

Why is this feature important?
Scam messages are increasing rapidly these days, whether they be SMS, WhatsApp messages, or social media messages. Often, fraudsters try to defraud you by pretending to be from a bank, delivery company, or some other important organization. For this reason, Google has added another security feature to Android smartphones.

Circle to Search: Will also detect suspicious messages
Previously, Circle to Search only provided information about what was visible on the screen. Now, it will also check the security of the message.

How will this feature work?
To do this, go to Messages and open any message you suspect. Now, long-press the home button or navigation bar. Circle or circle the message you suspect. The AI will then analyze it and tell you whether it could be a scam. Google says that the AI uses web and other signals to determine whether the message is 'likely a scam'. If the message turns out to be suspicious, it will tell you what to do next and provide suggestions.

Google Lens will also detect scams
Google has added this capability to Google Lens in addition to Circle to Search. Now, both Android and iOS users can take a screenshot of a chat and open it with Lens in the Google app to see signs of a scam. Google Lens will also explain why the message is suspicious. Google says that scammers are increasingly using messaging platforms. Many scams involve fraudsters demanding immediate payment or sending frightening false alerts designed to trick users into clicking on the wrong link.

The feature is helpful, but not 100% reliable.
Google has also stated that AI cannot always be completely accurate. Therefore, don't rely solely on this feature to make any significant decisions. Nevertheless, amid the growing number of scams, a tool like Circle to Search can prove to be very helpful. Sometimes, a single wrong link can cause significant harm. In such situations, a small circle on the screen can increase your security.

Why is it more needed in India?
UPI, online payments, and digital banking are growing rapidly in India. Consequently, the importance of security features on phones increases. This will especially help new internet users avoid scams and feel safe in the digital world.
