Jyotsna Rawat of Berinag area of Pithoragarh district has done wonders. He has made a place in the administrative branch of the Indian Air Force.
This achievement not only made his family dance, but also gave new inspiration to the entire Uttarakhand. Jyotsna has secured 30th rank at All India level, which is a testament to her hard work and passion.
Carried forward the tradition of military family
Jyotsna was born in a family where the spirit of patriotism runs in the blood. His grandfather, uncle and maternal grandfather have served in the Indian Army in the Kumaon Regiment. Father remained in EME as a former Subedar. This family legacy became the biggest encouragement for Jyotsna. Jyotsna, who grew up in Chausala village of Berinag, had dreamed of joining the army since childhood.
Now on December 28, she is going to start training at Dundigal Air Force Academy, Hyderabad. Here she will learn the intricacies of Air Force admin responsibilities, which will become a strong foundation for her career.
Great journey of studies and support of family.
Jyotsna’s education journey was also amazing. He did his schooling from Army Public School, Hisar Cantt, Haryana, where the army environment taught him discipline and passion. Then completed graduation from Gargi College of Delhi University. Education always got top priority in the family.
Elder sister is working in an IT company, younger brother is doing Masters in Computer Application from JNU. Mother takes care of the house and continues to give wings to the dreams of her children. Father and mother are proud of Jyotsna’s success.

As soon as the news of Jyotsna’s success spread, there was joy in Berinag and Pithoragarh. Many stalwarts including local MLA, former MLA, block chief praised him highly. Village elders and relatives described it as a memorable moment. This victory of girls in such a marginal district fills the youth with enthusiasm, especially in the era of women empowerment. The entry of women in the armed forces is increasing rapidly in Uttarakhand, stories like Jyotsna are an example of this.

The number of women in the Indian Air Force is increasing day by day. Apart from admin branch, she can become a pilot in flying branch. For selection, it is necessary to pass Maths-Physics in 12th, along with 60% marks in graduation from a recognized university. Same rule applies to engineering people also. Age 20-24 years, relaxation up to 26 years if you have a commercial pilot license. Minimum height 162.5 cm. These criteria keep the candidates physically and mentally fit. Jyotsna proves that everything is possible with proper planning and courage.
