Vande Bharat Big Update: Narasapur–Chennai train to start from THIS date, Check stoppages, ticket price, timings here

New Delhi: In a major development the Indian Railways is all set to introduce a Vande Bharat Express train between Narasapur and Chennai. It is important to note that the train will begin commercial operations from December 15 on the Narasapur–Chennai route while services from Chennai to Narasapur will commence from December 17. This new train is likely to cut the travel time and strengthen rail connectivity between the two cities. In a statement the Southern Railway (SR) zone said: Train No. 20677 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express(6 days a week except Tuesdays) will be extended to Narasapur with effect from 17th December 2025. Train No. 20678 Vijayawada – Dr MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express (6 days a week except Tuesdays) will be inaugurated and extended to run from Narasapur with effect from 15th December 2025. Here are some of the key details: The Narasapur to Chennai Vande Bharat train is an extension of train number 20677/20678 Dr MGR Chennai Central-Vijayawada-Dr MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express. The Narasapur-Chennai Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of 655 km in 08:55 hrs. During its journey between Dr MGR Chennai Central and Narasapur this semi-high-speed train will stop at seven stations. These are: Renigunta Junction Nellore Ongole Tenali Junction Vijayawada Junction Gudivada Junction and Bhimavaram Town. Train number 20677 Dr MGR Chennai Central–Narasapur Vande Bharat Express will depart Chennai at 05:30 hrs and arrive at Narasapur at 14:10 hrs. In the return direction train number 20678 Narasapur–Dr MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express will leave Narasapur at 14:50 hrs and reach Chennai at 23:45 hrs. The ticket price for travelling in an AC Chair Car between Narasapur and Chennai is Rs 1635. For an Executive Chair Car this comes up to Rs 3030.
