Deepika Padukone sparked a debate with her decision to not work 12 hours a day on sets. After DP’s exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit allegedly over the same issue many actors have come forward to support the Chennai Express actress. A new addition to the list is her husband Ranveer Singh. However his remarks are not recent ones. They date back to 2022. What Did Ranveer Singh Say on Working Hours? An old clip of Ranveer Singh is making the rounds on the internet not just because of what Ranveer said but because it goes in the opposite direction of his wife Deepika’s remarks and the current ongoing debate around work-life balance in Hindi cinema. Ranveer Singh’s Viral Remark Sparks Discussion In an old video which goes back to 2022 where Ranveer spoke to Bollywood Hungama Ranveer opened up about the work style in the industry. In the clip Singh said “A lot of times people complain… other artists and their management complain ki ‘Yaar tu sabko bigaad raha hai.’ Sab log bolte hain ‘8 ghanta ki shift mein tu 10-12 ghanta kabhi shooting karta hai. Fir hum log ko bhi karna padta hai.’” Explaining why he did not consider long working hours to be an issue the actor added “But ab 8 ghanta mein wo cheez jo hum chahte hain wo nahi bani toh theek hai na. Aap karlo thodi si zyada shooting. I’m not that kind of partner who sees it as a transaction. That’s the key.” With the clip now resurfacing online it has garnered massive discussion among the audience. What Did Deepika Padukone Say About Eight-Hour Working Shifts in Bollywood? A few months earlier Deepika Padukone made headlines when she asked the makers of Spirit and Kalki 2898 AD to cut down the working hours to eight hours. When the request of the actress who recently embraced motherhood was not fulfilled she decided to step away from the films. Addressing the matter in an interview in a broader perspective Deepika said “By virtue of being a woman if that’s coming across as pushy or whatever then so be it. But it is no secret that a lot of superstars male superstars in the Indian film industry have been working for eight hours for years and it’s never made headlines.” She further added “I don’t want to take names now and make this into a whole thing but it is very commonly publicly known that a lot of male actors have been working for eight hours a day for years. A lot of them only work for eight hours Monday to Friday. They do not work on weekends.” Ranveer Singh in Headlines for Dhurandhar Meanwhile coming back to Ranveer Singh the actor is currently basking in the success of his recent release Dhurandhar.
