A husband-wife couple, a tenant in Ghaziabad’s Raj Nagar Extension, have been arrested for allegedly murdering their landlady, **Deepshikha Sharma** (aged 47-48, a school teacher). Deepshikha Sharma had gone to his flat to collect the outstanding rent. His body was found stuffed in a big red suitcase in a rented apartment in **Aura Chimera Society**.

Deepshikha and her husband Umesh Sharma had two flats in the complex—one for themselves and the other on rent to **Ajay Gupta** (35, transport businessman) and **Aakriti Gupta** (33). It is said that the husband and wife had 4-6 months of rent outstanding, due to which Deepshikha had gone alone to talk to them on Wednesday.

When she did not return, her domestic help **Meena** became suspicious. Meena saw the CCTV footage in which Deepshikha was seen entering the flat, but not coming out. When the Guptas were trying to leave with a suitcase (they had called an auto-rickshaw), Meena stopped them and insisted that they stay here until Deepshikha was found.

Police arrived around 11:15 pm, searched the premises and recovered the body. Initial investigation revealed that Deepshikha was hit on the head with a pressure cooker and strangled with a dupatta. Some reports also suggest dismemberment of the bodies, and a confession video has surfaced in which the husband and wife reportedly confess to the crime, citing torture.

ACP Nandgram **Upasana Pandey** confirmed the arrest and said that a case has been registered on the basis of the family’s complaint. The investigation, including postmortem and forensic analysis, is ongoing.

Due to the alertness of Meena (who had offered to accompany Deepshikha), this incident came to light, which has shocked the entire community.
