The court had ordered Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi and other accused to appear personally in this case. Lalu family was seen together on this occasion. Lalu Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, ousted from the party and family, also appeared in the court. When Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009, he and his family have been accused of giving jobs by taking land. It is alleged that in exchange for appointments to Group-D posts in various zones of the Railways, candidates and their families were made to register lands in the name of Lalu family members. CBI claims that these lands were taken at prices far below market rates and in some cases even as gifts. CBI and ED have filed several charge sheets in this case, in which Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and others have been made the main accused.
