digital desk- Dayashankar Singh, Transport Minister in Uttar Pradesh Government and MLA from Ballia Sadar, made such a statement during a program on Saturday, which has intensified the discussion in political and social circles. He said that if a woman wearing hijab has the ability and capability, then she too can become the first citizen of India i.e. the President. Dayashankar Singh said this while talking to the media during the blanket distribution program organized in Ballia Collectorate premises. In fact, during the program, journalists had asked Dayashankar Singh a question while referring to the recent statement of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. In response to this question, the Transport Minister said that India is a democratic country, where position and respect are not decided by any religion, dress or class, but by merit and ability. He said, “If a woman wearing hijab has the qualifications, she too can become the first lady of the country i.e. the President. No one should have any objection to this.”
Example given by President Draupadi Murmu
Giving the example of current President Draupadi Murmu, Dayashankar Singh said that she comes from an ordinary family and today holds the highest constitutional post of the country. It is inspiring for women across the country. He said that Draupadi Murmu becoming the President is a proof that democracy is strong in India and here every class, every society and every woman gets an opportunity to move forward. Talking on the issue of women empowerment, the Transport Minister said that women should be respected everywhere and in every situation. He said that instead of dividing women into any particular class or identity, they should be given a chance to progress in every field. Women’s participation is necessary everywhere in education, politics, administration and employment. He also said that the society should give equal status to women, only then the country will be able to make real progress.
Sharp attack on Akhilesh Yadav also
Apart from this, Dayashankar Singh also made a sharp attack on the statements of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav regarding SIR (Special Intensive Revision) and NRC. He said that Akhilesh Yadav is trying to mislead the public. Dayashankar Singh alleged that Akhilesh Yadav himself is getting the SIR work done everywhere by his workers, but is making statements against it publicly. The Transport Minister raised the question as to why the list of people whose names have been removed from the voter list or whose names are not in the list is not made public. He said that it is possible that there may be many people whose names are registered in the voter list at four places. In such cases, under the rules, the name will be kept at only one place and will be removed from other places. There is no need to spread confusion regarding this.
