Iravan Hashmi Taskery, (Aj Samaj), Mumbai: Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is now making headlines with the web series Smuggli after his recent release film Haq. Emraan Hashmi’s Smuggler: The Smuggler’s Web is released on Netflix on January 14, 2026, in which he plays the role of a customs officer. The series revolves around smuggling at airports and also stars Sharad Kelkar. With its release, discussion about its second season has also started.

Now director Raghav Jayarath has given an important hint on these rumours. Emraan Hashmi has played the role of Superintendent Arjun Meena in seven episodes of smuggling. People are praising Imran’s acting on social media and the series is getting positive response. Meanwhile, the makers have reacted regarding the second season of this series.

Season 2 depends on audience response

During a recent media interview, Jayarath said, right now, we believe in ending every show. Therefore, every series will have a proper closure. But if the audience loves it and wants to see more of it, then we would like to take it forward. The Special Ops team had initially planned an ending, but later when the audience’s support was clear, they took the story forward.

Imran said yes in two and a half minutes

The director further said, when we were casting, as soon as Imran’s name came, everything fell into place automatically. We already felt that Imran was perfect for this role. When we spoke to him, the actor immediately agreed to the project. It was just a two and a half minute narration and as soon as he heard it he said, let’s do it.
