Punjab News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab state media in-charge Baltej Pannu said that Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu himself has admitted that if there is an alliance with the Badal family, drugs and gangsterism will return to Punjab. Pannu said that this is not just a political statement, but the open truth of the past dark phase of Punjab.
The truth of the governments of 2007–17 and 2017–22 exposed
During the press conference in Chandigarh, Baltej Pannu said that Bittu’s statement has exposed the failure of the Akali-BJP rule from 2007 to 2017 and the Congress government from 2017 to 2022. He said that in both these tours, Punjab was pushed towards drugs and gangster culture.
Serious questions on Sunil Jakhar and Captain Amarinder
Pannu said that today the command of Punjab BJP is in the hands of former Congressman Sunil Jakhar and former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is a senior leader of the BJP. Both the leaders say that BJP cannot be strong in Punjab without the Badal family.
He raised the question that if everyone knows the period in which drug addiction and gangsterism spread in Punjab, then why is there so much uneasiness about an alliance with the Badals?
Drug addiction and gangsterism at peak during Akali-BJP rule
Baltej Pannu reminded that drug trafficking and gangster culture was at its peak in Punjab during the Akali-BJP rule from 2007 to 2017. During this period, dangerous drugs like ‘Chitta’ became prevalent.
Referring to incidents like Nabha jail break, attacks on policemen and Faridkot, he said that this was the same period when law and order had become completely weak.
No concrete action was taken even in Congress government
Pannu also raised questions on the Congress government from 2017 to 2022. He said that if Bittu already knew who was responsible behind drug addiction and gangsterism, then why was no strict action taken during the Congress government?
He alleged that Congress, BJP and Akali Dal kept protecting each other.
Punjab News: The oath on Gutka Sahib also proved to be hollow.
Pannu said that the Congress government made big promises to end drug addiction, but they remained limited to papers only. Even the oath on Gutka Sahib was not kept and no concrete action was taken against the drug mafia.
Strict action against drugs and gangsters in AAP government
Baltej Pannu said that the situation has changed after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in 2022.
He said that ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign is being conducted and Punjab Police is taking action against drug smugglers and gangsters without any political pressure.
The people of Punjab have now understood everything
Pannu said that instead of raising questions on others, Ravneet Bittu should seek answers from his party leaders, who are advocating an alliance with the Badal family.
He said that the people of Punjab are now aware and will not give a second chance to those who ruined the state.
