NFL legend Tom Brady has opened up about his 2022 divorce from Gisele Bundchen which coincided with his final season in the league. The couple parted their way after 13 years of marriage.
During a recent appearance on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” show, the seven-time Super Bowl champion revealed the struggles he faced while playing as his marriage came to an end.
“My last season was tough. I was going through a lot of just a personal family issue and it was a challenge. It just took a lot out of me in terms of my ability to continue to play,” said Brady.

Despite his 23-year career, Brady explained that he has no regrets about retiring.
“I had 23 years of (football) so I didn’t think I was missing anything, retiring. I felt like I always had a goal – 45. I was 45 years old, I wanted to spend time with my kids.”
Brady initially announced his retirement at the end of 2021 but returned 40 days later to play one final season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The strain on the marriage intensified when Bundchen asked him to prioritise family; she ultimately filed for divorce mid-season. The model has since married jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, with whom she welcomed a son in 2025.
Brady and Bundchen share two children, Benjamin and Vivian. He also has a son, Jack, from a previous relationship with Bridget Moynahan.
