New Delhi. Indian Railways has taken a historic step towards making long-distance travel comfortable and faster. The country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is going to start its commercial service between Kamakhya (Guwahati) and Howrah (West Bengal) from today (Thursday, January 22). Operated by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), this train will offer a new option to overnight passengers to complete the journey with modern facilities and in less time.

According to Railways, Vande Bharat Sleeper Express will travel as train number 27576 between Kamakhya-Howrah. This train is starting from 22nd January. It will run on all days of the week except Wednesday. It will depart from Kamakhya at 18:15 pm and reach Howrah at 08:15 am the next morning. At the same time, the commercial start of train number 27575 (Howrah-Kamakhya) will start from January 23. It will run every day except Thursday. It will depart from Howrah at 18:20 pm and reach Kamakhya at 08:20 am the next morning. This train will complete its journey in approximately 14 hours.
A total of 16 coaches have been installed in this train for the convenience of passengers. It has one AC first class, four AC 2-tier coaches and 11 AC 3-tier coaches.
Stoppages at these stations
This train will stop at 13 important stations between Howrah and Kamakhya. They include Bandil, Nabadwip Dham, Katwa, Azimganj, New Farakka, Malda Town, Aluabari Road, New Jalpaiguri, Jalpaiguri Road, New Cooch Behar, New Alipurduar, New Bongaigaon and Rangiya.

The third AC fare for the journey between Howrah to Kamakhya is Rs 2435. Whereas for second AC you will have to spend Rs 3145 and for first AC you will have to spend Rs 3855.
With the arrival of this sleeper variant of Vande Bharat, the connectivity between Eastern India and North-East will be greatly strengthened. This train is not only faster than traditional long distance trains, but it also meets international standards of safety and comfort.
