We've all been there—buying a stunning pair of jeans only to discover they're just slightly too snug for comfort.

Typically, we'll shove them to the back of the wardrobe or toss them in the charity bag. But it needn't be this way.

One blogger has revealed how she was initially gutted when a second-hand pair of jeans she'd purchased didn't quite fit. That's when her grandmother stepped in.

In a TikTok clip that's since had viewers racing to test the old-school hack themselves, Lily Schoknecht explained she'd bought the jeans a size smaller, as no other sizes were available.

After trying them on, she resigned herself to a "tough loss", with the denim refusing to cooperate. However, her nan suggested something unexpected - simply jump in the shower.

Lily said: "I spoke to my nana about them, and she said 'have you showered in them yet?' I was like, 'what? No, I haven't showered in my jeans. what are you talking about?'".

"She was like, 'just trust me, shower in them, wear them around the house, stretch them out a little bit, and then let them air dry and don't put them in the dryer again'."

Feeling "desperate" to make her stylish new jeans work, Lily—who posts under @bug318_—followed her nan's instructions to the letter. The next morning, they fitted perfectly, as though she'd found them in her exact size.

Unsurprisingly, her followers have been amazed by how effectively the clever technique worked, though some have been left cringing at the mere idea of wandering about in damp denim.

As one person said: "My sensory issues are strong but my desire to fit the thrifted jeans in the back of my closet is stronger".

Another added: "This is a very old hack, I'm 75 and did that with old jeans when I was in my 20's".
