What is the difference between Kanjeevaram and Mysore silk saree?
Talking about the difference between Kanjeevaram and Mysore silk sarees, Kanjeevaram silk is woven using a three-shuttle Korwai pattern, in which the body, border and pallu are woven separately. Mysore silk, on the other hand, is woven using an interlocked warp and weft pattern, resulting in a light, lustrous fabric that is suitable for long periods of wear. Although both the sarees are made of pure mulberry silk, Kanjivaram silk is heavier and has zari patterns of peacocks, flowers and checks. Whereas, Mysore silk has simple designs of geometric patterns or pastel colors.
