Palash Muchhal linked to Rs 40 lakh cheating case: Reports
According to the PTI report, police officials confirmed on Thursday that no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered so far. However, they said the matter is being looked into following a formal application submitted to senior authorities.
The complainant has been identified as Vidnyan Mane, a resident of Sangli. According to a police official, Mane submitted a written application on Tuesday to the Sangli Superintendent of Police, seeking registration of an FIR against Muchhal. The application outlines a series of meetings and transactions that allegedly took place over more than a year.
As per the complaint, Mane first met Muchhal in Sangli on December 5, 2023. During the meeting, discussions reportedly took place about Mane’s interest in investing in film production. The complaint claims that Muchhal proposed that Mane come on board as a producer for his upcoming project titled Nazaria.
Mane has alleged that Muchhal assured him that the film would be released on OTT platforms and that the investment would yield substantial returns. According to the complaint, Muchhal told Mane that an investment of Rs 25 lakh could fetch a profit of around Rs 12 lakh after the film’s release. Mane was also allegedly offered a role in the film as part of the deal.
Following these discussions, the two are said to have met on multiple occasions. The complaint states that between these meetings and subsequent follow-ups, Mane transferred a total amount of Rs 40 lakh to Muchhal by March 2025. The money was allegedly given in good faith, based on assurances about the film’s progress and returns.
However, the project reportedly did not reach completion. Mane has claimed that when the film failed to move forward, he asked for his money to be returned. According to him, repeated attempts to contact Muchhal did not elicit any response, prompting him to seek police intervention.
A police official said that since the complaint has been received, a preliminary probe is underway to verify the claims made by the complainant. “At this stage, no FIR has been registered. We are examining the documents and details provided in the application,” the official said.
