Under this recruitment drive, more than 600 vacant posts will be filled. Candidates who wish to become Constables in the police department in Jammu and Kashmir can now apply online on the official website.

According to the information released by the JKSSB, the application process for this recruitment has started, and interested candidates can fill out their application forms until March 2, 2026. The commission has clarified that no application form will be accepted after the last date. Therefore, candidates are advised to complete the application process in time.

The minimum age for applying for Constable posts is 18 years. The maximum age limit varies according to different categories and posts. For some posts, the maximum age is 28 years, for some it is 30 years, and for some special categories, it is up to 40 years. Candidates from reserved categories will also be given age relaxation as per government rules.

What is the fee?

Candidates will also have to pay an application fee to apply for this recruitment. The application fee for general category candidates is fixed at Rs. 700.  Candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Economically Weaker Sections will have to pay a fee of Rs. 600. How will the selection be made?

The selection process for Constable recruitment will be completed in several stages. First, candidates will have to appear for a written examination. This examination will be based on multiple-choice questions, and the questions will be asked in English. One-fourth of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer, so candidates are advised to answer the questions carefully. Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for the next stage. The second stage will consist of a Physical Standards Test (PST) and a Physical Efficiency Test (PET). These tests will assess the candidates' height, weight, chest measurement, and physical fitness. Passing both these stages is mandatory for candidates to proceed further in the selection process.

Candidates who qualify in the PST and PET will be called for the final stage, which involves document verification. During this stage, candidates' educational certificates, age proof, identity proof, and other necessary documents will be verified. Only after all documents are found to be correct will the candidate's selection be confirmed.
