Haryana Police Constable Age Relaxation: The state government has taken a significant step to provide relief to young people who were excluded from applying for approximately 5,500 police constable positions due to their age. On the recommendation of the state government, the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has granted a three-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for candidates. The application deadline has also been extended.
HSSC Chairman Himmat Singh shared this information on Thursday via his Facebook page. He explained that a large number of candidates had raised the issue with the Commission, stating that the Common Eligibility Test (CET) was held nearly three years late, resulting in them exceeding the age limit for police recruitment. In light of this situation, the state government has decided to grant age relaxation to all such young people.
Recruitment for 5,500 posts is scheduled, with the deadline extended to January 31st.
In addition to the age relaxation, the Commission has also granted an additional six days to apply. The Commission has extended the application deadline to January 31st, 11:59 PM. The online application process began on January 11th. It is worth noting that 4,500 male constable positions, 600 female constable positions, and 400 constable positions in the Haryana Police will be filled.
More than 190,000 candidates have applied so far. The age for recruitment is proposed to be calculated as of January 1st, 2026, the date the Commission issued the recruitment advertisement.
The CET exam could not be conducted for three years after 2022.
The police constable recruitments for 2022 and 2023 were cancelled.
Many candidates were unable to appear for the CET and became overage.
Despite passing the CET last year, they were not getting a chance for recruitment.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini intervened at the request of the youth.
The Commission relaxed the age limit by three years.
The deadline has also been extended from the 25th to January 31st at 11:59 p.m.
Recruitment has not been conducted for three years.
Previously, a large number of candidates were demanding age relaxation. They stated that the CET could not be conducted for three consecutive years after 2022, even though the exam was supposed to be held annually. Many candidates had applied for the police constable recruitment in 2022 and 2023, but those recruitments were canceled for various reasons. As a result, they were unable to participate in the CET for three years and now exceed the age limit.
Candidates also argued that even though they passed the CET exam held last year, they are now unable to participate in police recruitment. They cited the example of the cancellation of recruitments in Uttar Pradesh, where age relaxation was granted to candidates.
Taking the demand of the youth seriously, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed the HSSC to give a three-year relaxation in the maximum age limit, after which the Chairman of the Commission formally announced this decision.
