After the cancellation of his wedding with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, music composer and singer Palash Muchhal has been accused of cheating a man from Maharashtra’s Sangli district out of 40 lakh, as per a complaint filed with the police. This allegation surfaced weeks after Muchhal made headlines for his decision to call off the wedding.

After the cancellation of his wedding with Smriti Mandhana, Palash Muchhal is facing cheating allegations. A 34-year-old actor and producer, Vidnyan Mane, approached the Sangli Superintendent of Police to register an FIR. Mane accused Muchhal of deceiving him by taking money under the guise of investing in an upcoming film project.

Mane claims that he first met Muchhal in Sangli on December 5, 2023. Muchhal reportedly expressed interest in Mane’s film project titled Nazaria and proposed to join as a producer. Mane alleges that Muchhal assured him of a profit of 12 lakh on an investment of 25 lakh after the film’s OTT release and also offered him a role in the project.

The two reportedly met on two more occasions. Mane stated that he transferred a total of 40 lakh to Muchhal by March 2025. However, the film was allegedly not completed, and Mane claims that his repeated requests for the return of the money went unanswered.

Following this incident, Mane submitted a written complaint to the police. Officials have confirmed that a preliminary inquiry is currently underway. As of now, Palash Muchhal has not made any public statement in response to these allegations.

The complaint comes shortly after Muchhal’s highly publicised separation from Smriti Mandhana. Their wedding, originally scheduled for November 23, was postponed due to Mandhana’s father’s hospitalisation for a heart condition. Subsequently, Muchhal announced the end of their relationship.

In a statement shared earlier, Muchhal expressed his decision to “move on” and urged people to refrain from engaging in speculation or spreading misinformation and unverified rumours about his personal life.

After the news was out, Muchhal shared a statement on his social media, “IN LIGHT OF THE

ALLEGATIONS MADE BY SANGLI-BASED VIDNYAN MANE ON SOCIAL MEDIA, I WISH TO STATE THAT THESE CLAIMS AGAINST ME ARE ENTIRELY BASELESS AND FACTUALLY INCORRECT. THEY HAVE BEEN MADE WITH MALICIOUS INTENT TO TARNISH MY REPUTATION, AND THEY WILL NOT GO UNCHALLENGED. MY LAWYER, SHREYANSH MITHARE, IS EXPLORING ALL LEGAL AVENUES, AND THIS MATTER WILL BE DEALT WITH STRICTLY THROUGH THE APPROPRIATE LEGAL CHANNELS.”

The police inquiry is ongoing, and further investigation developments in the case are eagerly awaited.
