The Sydney Sixers all-rounder Joel Davies delivered an exceptional caught-and-bowled performance during the Big Bash League 2025-26 Challenger match which resulted in his dismissal of Hobart Hurricanes wicketkeeper Matthew Wade during an essential moment of the match.
The Hobart Hurricanes faced their first challenge when Davies bowled his flighted delivery to Matthew Wade because the team needed to reach 199 runs at Sydney Cricket Ground. The left-hander tried to work it into the leg side, but the timing was completely off. Davies showed skillful reflexes when he caught the ball which came back to the bowler after it came back towards him from the batter during the match.
The dismissal left Wade walking back for a golden duck and further dented the Hurricanes’ hopes. The moment became special because Davies maintained his catch despite the non-striker being in his line of sight which demonstrated his excellent focus and athletic skills.

Ben McDermott scored 40 runs from 26 balls to lead the innings while Beau Webster faced difficulties in increasing his run rate. The Hurricanes fell behind the required run rate after Mitchell Starc and Sean Abbott took wickets and Davies made his crucial strikes.
Hobart Hurricanes lost control of the match after they reached 122 for 7 during their 15-over play which allowed Sydney Sixers to dominate the game completely.

The Hobart Hurricanes reached a score of 122-7 during their 15.1 overs while trying to chase down a target of 199 runs. Will Prestwidge scored 18 runs from 8 balls while Rishad Hossain scored 3 runs without being dismissed.
Mitchell Starc took two wickets for Sydney Sixers while Sean Abbott also took two wickets and Joel Davies ended his bowling performance with 2 wickets for 17 runs and he achieved the important wicket of Matthew Wade.
