UP Police Constable 2025 Age Limit: To clear the confusion among candidates regarding the age limit and reservation related to the Home Guard category for the UP Police Constable recruitment 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Lucknow, has issued a clarification notice. In the notice, the recruitment board has clarified the age limit.

Original Age Limit as per Rule-10
According to Rule 10 of the UP Police Constable and Head Constable Service Rules-2015, the candidate's age on July 1st of the calendar year in which the direct recruitment vacancies are published should be as follows:

Male Candidates: Minimum 18 years and Maximum 22 years
Female Candidates: Minimum 18 years and Maximum 25 years

It is also stipulated that candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other categories will be given relaxation in the upper age limit as per government orders. That is, the upper age limit will be increased by the number of years specified in the Act and applicable government orders at the time of notification of vacancies by the board.

One-Time Age Relaxation of 3 Years
Through a notice issued by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on January 5th, it has been decided to provide a one-time age relaxation of 3 years to all categories for this direct recruitment. This relaxation has already been implemented by the recruitment board.

Clarification on Home Guard Reservation
The recruitment board has also clarified that, as per Government Order dated 25-01-1995, 5% of the posts in the Police Force and 5% of the posts in the PAC are reserved for Home Guard personnel in direct recruitment to the Police and PAC.

Under this, Home Guard candidates will be considered eligible only if their age is a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 25 years, and they have completed at least 3 years of service in the Home Guards. 

Clarification on Home Guard Age Limit
The Recruitment Board, in reference to its notification/press release dated 08-01-2026, has reiterated that Home Guard candidates will receive reservation benefits only within the prescribed age limit of their respective vertical categories. This means that no separate or additional age relaxation will be applicable for the Home Guard category.

The Recruitment Board appeals to candidates to assess their eligibility solely based on official rules, government orders, and the Board's notifications.
