In the modern era of cricket, explosive batting has become the norm, especially with formats like T20 and T10 pushing the boundaries of aggressive play. Records are regularly shattered, and even the 300-run mark has been crossed in T20 Internationals. However, scoring 146 runs in just four overs sounds almost unbelievable — yet this extraordinary feat has now become a reality.

This astonishing performance came during a match between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh in the F2 Double Wickets Tournament, where two Saudi batsmen unleashed relentless hitting, even against a bowler of the calibre of Shakib Al Hasan. Saudi Arabia went on to win the match convincingly by 61 runs.

Naturally, such numbers raise questions. The answer lies in the unique format of the tournament. Each match consisted of only four overs per side, with just two batsmen and two bowlers representing each team. Matches were played on mats instead of traditional pitches, with a reduced pitch length of around 15 yards rather than the standard 22 yards.

Adding to the scoring frenzy, the boundaries were just 20–30 meters, significantly shorter than the usual 60–65 meters. One over in every match was designated as a “fireball over,” during which boundaries earned up to 12 runs instead of the standard four or six. These rule variations resulted in exceptionally high scores throughout the tournament, including Saudi Arabia’s remarkable 146-run effort.

Despite Saudi Arabia’s explosive display, England emerged as tournament champions, defeating Saudi Arabia in the final.
