Background Of The Recent Military Operations

Over the past several weeks, forces operating under the Southern Command have intensified their presence in strategic areas of southern Gaza. These deployments are part of a broader security framework aligned with the current ceasefire agreement. The primary objective remains preventing hostile elements from regrouping and launching attacks that could destabilize the situation along the border.

Last week, during a targeted operation, Israeli forces engaged in an exchange of fire that resulted in the elimination of six armed terrorists. Following the confrontation, troops conducted extensive ground searches to ensure the area was fully secured and free from additional threats.

Discovery Of Weapons And Explosive Materials

During post-engagement searches, soldiers uncovered a significant cache of military equipment. This included various types of explosives, ammunition cartridges, and a detailed instruction manual explaining the preparation and deployment of explosive devices. Military officials noted that the presence of such materials indicated advanced planning and operational intent by hostile groups operating in the area.

The discovery of these items was described as a critical step in disrupting planned attacks and limiting the operational capabilities of terrorist cells in southern Gaza. Securing and removing these materials helped reduce the risk of future violence against both military personnel and civilian populations.

Identification Of Rocket Launchers And Arms

In separate but related operations, forces located five inactive rocket launchers hidden within the operational zone. Alongside these launchers, several additional weapons were found, further underscoring the extent of militant infrastructure embedded in civilian and semi-urban environments.

Although the rocket launchers were not operational at the time of discovery, military sources emphasized that their removal was essential. Even inactive systems can often be restored or repurposed, posing a latent threat if left undiscovered.

Completion Of A Major Underground Tunnel Destruction

One of the most significant achievements highlighted in the report was the completion of an extensive underground tunnel destruction project. The operation, which began approximately a year ago, was conducted in cooperation with the Diamond Combat Engineers Special Forces. The tunnel measured nearly four kilometers in length and represented a major component of the underground network used for movement, storage, and operational planning.

Inside the tunnel, forces discovered multiple sleeping quarters and weapon storage areas, indicating prolonged use by militant operatives. The destruction of this underground route is considered a strategic success, as such tunnels are often used to evade detection, transport arms, and conduct surprise attacks.

Ongoing Security Measures And Official Statement

The IDF reiterated that its forces remain deployed in southern Gaza in accordance with the agreed ceasefire framework. Officials stressed that operations will continue as necessary to remove any immediate threats and to ensure regional stability.

According to the official statement, maintaining readiness and conducting preventive actions are essential components of the current security posture. The military emphasized its commitment to acting decisively while adhering to operational guidelines designed to minimize escalation.
