Gokarna: A tourist from Mysuru was rescued by lifeguards after being swept away by strong sea currents at Gokarna Main Beach on Sunday morning.
The young man, identified as Madhu (23) from Mysuru district, had come to Gokarna with 10 friends for a trip. While swimming, he got caught in the sea’s strong currents and was in danger of drowning.
The lifeguard team, along with water sports staff and a jet ski driver, noticed him and successfully brought him back to the shore.
Lifeguards Mohan Ambig, Lokesh Harikantra, Shivaprasad Ambig, and Roshan Kharvi led the rescue operation. They were supported by Beach Supervisor Ravi Naik, tourist friend Shekhar Harikantra, and water sports staff Darshan Lakkumane, Jaggu Hosakatta, Deepak Gowda Ashok Hosakatta, Kamalakar Hosakatta, Mahesh Hoskatta, and Sachin Hoskatta.
The quick response by the rescue team saved the tourist’s life, earning widespread praise from the public.
