Former BCCI President: Former Chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Inderjit Singh Bindra passed away on 25 January. He breathed his last at the age of 84. There was mourning in the cricket world as soon as the news of his death was heard. ICC Chairman Jay Shah also expressed regret over Bindra’s death and also shared an emotional post on social media. His contribution to Indian cricket cannot be forgotten.
Was the President of Punjab Cricket Association for 30 years
Bindra served as the 23rd President of BCCI from 1993 to 1996. He was ill for some time and was suffering from age diseases. Bindra was also the President of Punjab Cricket Association for almost 30 years. Mohali Cricket Stadium is known by his name. The name of the stadium is IS Bindra Stadium. India hosted the 1987 and 1996 World Cups. Bindra played an important role in hosting along with Jaganmohan Dalmia. Both of them had worked hard to bring the hosting of the World Cup to India.
Jai Shah expressed grief
Expressing regret over Bindra’s death, Jay Shah wrote on social media, “Deep condolences on the demise of Indian cricket administration stalwart and former BCCI President Shri I.S. Bindra. May his legacy continue to inspire the coming generations. Om Shanti.”
If family sources are to be believed, his last rites will be held on January 26 at Lodhi crematorium in New Delhi.
