Indian Navy SSC Vacancy 2026: The Indian Navy has released a notification for the recruitment of officers through SSC (Short Service Commission) for the January 2027 batch (ST 27 session). A total of over 260 vacancies will be filled in this recruitment drive. Unmarried men and women are eligible to apply. The online application process started on January 24, 2026. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official website.

Who can apply?
To become an SSC officer in the Indian Navy, a B.E./B. A tech degree in technical and other branches is required. A minimum of 60% marks is necessary. For some positions, a B.E./B.Tech (First Class), MBA (First Class), or B. A Sc + PG Diploma is also acceptable. Candidates with 60% marks in M.Sc, M.Tech, or MA in the relevant subject can also apply.

Positions requiring special qualifications
Some positions require specific certifications. For the Pilot position, candidates holding a valid CPL certificate can apply. Merchant Navy candidates who are certified Mate/Master or First Class Engineers by the Government of India can also apply for certain specialized positions. Minimum educational qualifications and required certifications are specified for each position.

5-day Interview Process
Selected candidates are called for a 5-day SSB (Services Selection Board) interview. On the first day, an Intelligence Test (OIR) and Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT) are conducted. This is followed by psychological tests, group tasks (GTO), and personal interviews.

After the interview, candidates undergo a complete medical examination at a military hospital. The final merit list is prepared based on the SSB and medical tests.

Salary
The initial monthly salary for the rank of Sub-Lieutenant is approximately Rs. 1,25,000. In addition, officers receive various allowances.
