After a mixed theatrical run, The Raja Saab is preparing for its next phase with a confirmed OTT release. The Prabhas-led Telugu horror-comedy, which generated strong pre-release buzz and opened well at the box office, is now set to reach a wider audience through digital streaming. While the makers are yet to officially announce the streaming date, details around the platform and deal value have already surfaced.
The post-theatrical streaming rights of The Raja Saab have been secured by Jio Hotstar, one of the leading OTT platforms in India. According to reports shared by industry tracker Chitrambhalare on X, the digital rights were sold for an estimated ₹80 crore. The agreement covers all major language versions of the film, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
In addition to the base amount, the deal reportedly includes a performance-linked clause. As per industry buzz, the platform will pay an additional ₹10 crore for every ₹100 crore earned by the film at the worldwide box office after it crosses the ₹200 crore mark. This structure has been described as a favourable arrangement for the producers, especially given the film’s high production cost.
The OTT agreement is expected to ease some of the financial pressure on the makers. With its theatrical run nearing completion, the digital release is being seen as an opportunity for the film to find renewed interest among home audiences.
A key emotional thread involves the protagonist’s grandmother, Gangadevi, who suffers from Alzheimer’s and remains fixated on finding her missing husband, Kanakaraju. His unexplained disappearance is closely tied to the dark history of the estate. As the narrative progresses, the search for answers brings together family emotions, paranormal incidents, and moments of comedy.
The music and background score are composed by Thaman S, while cinematography and editing are handled by Karthik Palani and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao respectively.
