KVS New Vacancy 2026: There's good news for young people dreaming of a government teaching job. Another teacher recruitment drive is underway at Kendriya Vidyalayas. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has announced a major recruitment drive for special educator positions for the 2026-27 academic year. This drive will fill over 900 vacant positions. Previously, KVS had announced a departmental recruitment drive for a total of 2,499 positions in December 2025.

According to information received, a total of 987 approved vacancies for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) and Primary Teacher (PRT) positions will be filled in Kendriya Vidyalayas for the 2026-27 academic year. These positions will be filled specifically to strengthen support for children with special needs in Kendriya Vidyalayas. These positions have been approved based on inputs received from various KVS regional offices under the Ministry of Education.

KVS will fill a total of 987 approved Special Educator positions in Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. These vacancies were determined based on regional demand and feedback from regional offices. These include 493 Special Educator-TGT positions and 494 Special Educator-PRT positions.

KVS Recruitment Applications May Open in February 2026
KVS has currently released a short notice detailing the state-wise vacancies for TGT and PRT positions. A detailed notification for this government recruitment will be released soon on KVS's official website, kvsangathan.nic.in. Applications are expected to open in early February 2026.

Eligibility for KVS PRT
Candidates applying for PRT Special Educator positions must have passed Senior Secondary (Class 12) with a minimum of 50 percent marks. Applicants must also have a two-year Diploma in Special Education in any recognized disability category. Passing the CTET Paper-I conducted by CBSE is mandatory for eligibility. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach in both Hindi and English as per KVS teaching requirements.

Eligibility for KVS TGT
Candidates applying for TGT Special Educator positions must have a graduation degree with at least 50 percent aggregate marks. Professional qualifications include a B.Ed. in Special Education or B.Ed. (General) with a one-year Diploma in Special Education. Applicants must have passed the CTET Paper-II conducted by CBSE. Additionally, valid registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India is mandatory for appointment to these positions.

Age Limit
The upper age limit for TGT positions is 35 years. Similarly, the upper age limit for PRT positions is 30 years. However, reserved category candidates are eligible for age relaxation as per government regulations. Details of age relaxation will be provided in the detailed notification. It should be noted that the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) announced vacancies for a total of 2,499 posts in December. The application process began on December 12th and continued until December 26th, 2025. However, this recruitment was departmental. The Limited Departmental Examination (LDE)/Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) is conducted to fill teaching and non-teaching positions from among eligible teachers/officers.
