Rail Madad App: India is a country where millions of people travel by train every day. In the rush to disembark quickly, losing luggage has become a common concern during train journeys. Whether it's a wallet, backpack, phone, or small trolley, passengers often realize within minutes of getting off the platform that their belongings are still on the moving train.
The Indian Railways is one of the world's largest and busiest rail networks. These kinds of incidents are not new to the railways. However, in recent years, the railways have simplified this process. Now, with a single system, luggage can be recovered quickly, and the stress on passengers has also been significantly reduced. Let's tell you more about this system.
Use the Rail Madad App
The railway's special grievance redressal platform, 'Rail Madad', has become the easiest and most effective way to register complaints about lost items. This digital service is available 24/7, and passengers can register their complaints directly from their phones. To register a complaint, passengers simply need to enter their PNR number, provide a brief description of the missing item, and submit the request through the app. The system then immediately sends an alert to the relevant railway divisions along the train's route.
Those who do not wish to use the app can register the same complaint directly on the official website railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in. Here, the portal registers the complaint and forwards it to the concerned teams. It's important to note that the sooner you register the complaint, the sooner the search will begin, and the chances of recovering your belongings will increase.
You can also report it at the station
Passengers also have the option of reporting their lost luggage at the station. This can be the station where they disembarked or the train's next major stop. The station master, the lost-property counter, and the RPF (Railway Protection Force) are responsible for handling complaints in such cases.
