New Delhi: Team India skipper Suryakumar Yadav is only 41 runs away from achieving a huge milestone in the upcoming 4th T20I against New Zealand. India will look to bag their fourth win in a row when they lock horns with the Kiwis in the penultimate 4th T20I of the ongoing five-match series at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag on Wednesday.

India have already clinched the five-match series after attaining an unassailable 3-0 lead with a dominant eight-wicket win in the third T20I in Guwahati on Sunday. After a brilliant knock of an unbeaten 82 in the 2nd T20I, Suryakumar continued his fine form in the third T20I against the Kiwis in Guwahati with an unbeaten 57.

The Indian skipper combined with explosive Abhishek Sharma, who slammed a stunning 20-ball 68 to help the hosts chase down the target of 154 runs in just 10 overs. Suryakumar will be hoping to continue his purple patch in the 4th T20I against New Zealand on Wednesday.

Suryakumar Yadav on the verge of joining Rohit, Kohli in elite list

Suryakumar is on the verge of joining Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in an elite list in the 4th T20I as he needs only 41 runs to complete 3,000 runs in T20Is. The star batter will become only the third Indian after Rohit and Kohli to cross the 3,000-run mark in the shortest format if he manages to score 41 runs in the 4th T20I.

SKY has so far amassed 2,959 runs in 96 innings in 102 T20Is for India at an average of 36.98 and a strike rate of 165.03, with four centuries and 23 fifties to his name. He is the third-highest run-getter for India in T20Is, behind only Rohit (4,231 runs in 159 matches) and Kohli (4,188 runs in 125 matches).

Rohit and Kohli are not active in T20Is anymore, having retired from the format after helping India lift the T20 World Cup in 2024. They are two of the only 11 batters in the world to have crossed the 3,000-mark in T20Is. Rohit is the leading run-getter of all time in T20Is with 4,231 runs.

If he manages to achieve the feat in the 4th T20I, Suryakumar will become the second-fastest Indian to 3,000 runs in T20Is after Kohli, who breached the mark in 81 innings.
