The Bharmour tribal sub-division has been experiencing a new wave of snowfall that began on Monday night and persisted intermittently until Tuesday afternoon. By the evening, the snowfall intensified across the region.
Given the current weather conditions and the heightened risk of avalanches in higher altitudes, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vikash Sharma has issued a warning, advising residents to refrain from leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary. He particularly cautioned those residing in the upper regions of Kugti Panchayat, Badgram Panchayat, Garima Panchayat, and the elevated areas of Holi and Bharmour tehsils to remain vigilant.
Furthermore, the SDM reported that the Bharmour administration has completed an assessment of the damage caused by a recent windstorm in the area. Families affected by this incident have been provided with tarpaulins for immediate relief.
In addition, Assistant Engineer Krishan Chand from the Electricity Department noted that out of 176 transformers in the Bharmour area, 49 were still non-operational as of Tuesday. He assured that restoration efforts are in progress and that the remaining transformers will be restored soon.
Moreover, the Jal Shakti Department has indicated that three drinking water schemes—Thathan, Garola, and Runkothi—are currently disrupted. Assistant Engineer Vivek Chandel mentioned that the department's staff is working tirelessly under challenging conditions to restore water supply as quickly as possible.
